We can offer you help with finding resources and provide direction to what books may be helpful to you.

Come and discuss your Statistical or Mathematical concerns, even if it’s just a little reassurance you need, we’re here to help all.

The centre is based in the Learning Development Room (UL017) on the ground floor of the GCW University Library, Brayford Pool Campus, directly opposite the Library’s Issue and Help desk.

Our MSSC is partially funded by Sigma; A Centre for Excellence in Mathematics & Statistics Support.

What can you expect? How can we help you?

Before you use the service we ask that you:

Register with the Centre by completing a form.

Think carefully about why you are using the service. In particular, try to narrow down the focus of your enquiry.

Prepare for the session by bringing with you (where appropriate):

Unit handbook and assessment details;

Records of any previous visits to the service.

After using the service we ask that you:

Let us know what you think about the service by completing any user evaluation forms that you are sent (typically by email).

The following gives a more detailed explanation of the service you can expect to receive:

We can:

Offer advice on structuring an assignment, especially its numerical contribution;

Offer tips on proof-reading a quantitative report;

Offer advice on planning and delivering a presentation that includes numerical outputs;

Suggest other relevant resources of a mathematical and statistical nature;

Discuss how to structure a report in terms of its tables, graphs and outputs from SPSS/PASW;

Offer advice on referencing mathematics and statistics work.

Disclaimer:

The aim of these Drop-in sessions is to support you in your studies. Ultimately you are responsible for your own learning and performance in assessment.
